Accreditation Partnership with College of the Desert

While undergoing the accreditation process, California Indian Nations College (CINC) offers fully-accredited courses through its partnership with the College of the Desert (COD). Students are dually enrolled at both schools and take courses at CINC. The classes transfer to any California State University and University of California campus as well as many private institutions. Enrolled CINC students receive the benefit of access to services from both colleges as well as receiving culturally-responsive academic curriculum rooted in Native American values.

College of the Desert is accredited through the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC). More information about ACCJC can be found on their website.

At its May 25, 2023 meeting, the Eligibility Committee of the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges reviewed the Eligibility application submitted by California Indian Nations College and deemed California Indian Nations College eligible to apply for Candidacy status. Eligibility indicates that an institute demonstrates that it meets all of the Commission’s Eligibility Requirements. Eligibility does not establish a formal relationship between the Commission and the institution. Inquiries about accreditation should be made to the Commission office: ACCJC, 428 J Street, Suite 400, Sacramento, CA 95814; (415) 506-0234; accjc@accjc.org.

CINC Staff undergo training with ACCJC. Certificates of completion are available here.
