Tip of the week: Public Safety Officers

Student did you know all of the assistance the Public Safety Department provides? There’s a good chance you don’t.  Of course, officers perform regular, non-emergency duties including parking enforcement, traffic control, supervision and assistance with college functions and special events.

However, public safety officers also provide resources for you! Do you have a late class and would like to be escorted to your vehicle? An officer can escort you to your vehicle. Can’t start or left your keys inside your vehicle? Yes, an officer can assist in jumpstarts and lockouts for vehicles. Do you have a minor medical emergency? Yes! An officer can assist you!

Public Safety Officers are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Officers patrol campuses routinely to ensure as safe and secure an environment as possible via foot patrols, bicycle, golf carts and patrol units.

  • Their goal is to assist students with their educational success while at College of the Desert Campuses (including our shared CINC campus in Palm Springs)
  • To provide services that adhere to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Continue to provide evidence based policing policies and practices
